COL1 Cash Stack: Landeskog – MacKinnon – Rantanen

Fanduel: $23,500 (43% of salary)/ DraftKings: $23,100 (46% of salary)

Colorado gets to face the Kings tonight and it’s a great one! The Kings are not great offensively but defensively they’re better than some people may think. Regardless, whenever we have COL1 on the slate, I’m interested. This line is easily top 3 in the NHL and they’re so good together and they have the full game correlation. It’s a pricey stack but I’ll have plenty of them in this 6 gamer! They will matchup against the Kopitar line which has not been solid defensively this season as they own a 30 SCA, 12 HDCA, and a mediocre 2.78xGA!

Other viable stacks: OTT1 (Tkachuk, Norris, and Batherson); WPG1 (Connor, Scheifele, and Wheeler); MTL1 (Tatar, Danault, and Gallagher)

VAN1 GPP Stack: Miller – Pettersson – Boeser

Fanduel: $20,500 (37% of salary)/ DraftKings: $16,900 (34% of salary)

JT Miller is finally back from his Covid absence and it didn’t take long for him and VAN1 to heat up and play at an elite level like last season. I watched yesterday’s game against Montreal (Today’s opponent as well) and Montreal is extremely undisciplined which means a lot of PP chances for this line. They are playing together on PP1 and that adds even more upside to this line. I love this game as I think it goes over once again and while I do like both sides here, I trust VAN1 to do most of the scoring for Vancouver in this game while MTL scoring may end up being all over the place. This is definitively a GPP play ownership wise but it’s a smash spot that may fly under the radar. VAN1 is also particularly cheap on DK tonight!

Other viable stacks: MTL2 (Drouin, Suzuki, and Anderson); MTL3 (Toffoli, Kotkaniemi, and Armia); NYI1 (Lee, Barzal, and Eberle)

Top 2 Players per Position (Stud and Value Play)

Centers/Forwards

Nathan MacKinnon | $8900 (FD) | $8500 (DK)

Just like Matthews and McDavid, MacKinnon is amazing at NHL and he can singlehandedly break a slate with his multi-point game upside every single night! Tonight, he gets a solid matchup against the Kings and Kopitar line. This is a player I would roster in Cash and GPP. He will be extremely owned and he shouldn’t disappoint. Fade at your own risk but he will easily be in the 60% range tonight if not more!

Josh Norris | $3900 (FD) | $3600 (DK)

Any cheap guys that play 1st line, 1st line minutes, and PP1 is nearly a must-play value for me. On top of that, Norris and OTT1 high danger chances, expected goals for and scoring chances are extremely good (small sample size). I’m impressed with this line and Norris. I’ll be interested all season till his price goes up. Also, he gets to face the weak Winnipeg defensive core and the struggling WPG1 line defensively! Sign me up!

Honorable Mentions: Scheifele, Pettersson, Barzal, Suzuki, Jack Hughes, Nolan Patrick, and Kotkaniemi

Wingers

Gabriel Landeskog | $6800 (FD) | $7100 (DK)

Once MacKinnon is locked, I like to have an extra edge in cash and there isn’t a way to predict if Landeskog or Rantanen will do better tonight. While I like the stack as a whole, I’ll be aiming towards Landeskog on FD since he is cheaper by $1000 and $400 on DK. It may not seem huge but $1000 can be useful to get the exact line you want sometimes. Just like MacKinnon, Landeskog is extremely solid at Hockey and he should pay his price tag no problem. His ice time is nearly identical to Rantanen so I will take the savings here! *Rantanen could end up doing better because of the Powerplay. He is better placed for One-timers on PP1* It all depends on your lineup build but all 3 COL1 should be considered tonight!

Tyler Toffoli | $4900 (FD) | $3900 (DK)

I was waiting for Toffoli and MTL3 to wake up and well it happened last night. They looked outstanding on the ice last night and Toffoli is awfully cheap on DK. Even on the 3rd line, he loves to shoot and it wouldn’t surprise me if he hits shot bonus. Also, for the narrative people, he played for Vancouver last season so I guess we can call it a “revenge narrative” nonetheless it’s a great matchup as Vancouver is awful defensively plus Edler and Hamonic might be out which means they will be worse defensively on paper tonight!

Honorable Mentions: Rantanen, Lee, Connor, Gallagher, Miller, Boeser, Wheeler, Tkachuk, Tatar, Eberle, Drouin, Lindblom, and Batherson

Defenseman

Josh Morrisey | $4300 (FD) | $4600 (DK)

If we want to get these studs tonight we will need to find mid-priced defenseman with great upside. Morrisey is playing PP1 and 1st D-pair minutes. I like the matchup against Ottawa as they are not a great defensive team. They take a lot of penalties and their PK is far from elite. Morrisey has been playing PP1 for the last 2 games and he took advantage of it with 2 assists. His minutes are around 24-25 minutes and he isn’t scared to shoot and block a couple of shots. Great value tonight!

Matt Grzelcyk | $4300 (FD) | $4700 (DK)

Same price range, Grzelcyk should be playing tonight (he left last game with a minor injury). He is also PP1 with the Bruins studs (Bergy and Marchy). The matchup is not as good as Morrisey but a cheap defenseman with a PP1 tag is always interesting. He has been logging decent minutes and shooting a lot. I like that!

Honorable Mentions: Makar, Petry, Weber, Hughes, Chabot, Romanov, Toews, and Sanheim

Goaltenders

Hunter Miska | $8500 (FD) | $8300 (DK)

The Kings struggles to score and they will keep it like that tonight as they are facing a great Colorado team both offensively and defensively. It shouldn’t be hard for Miska to get the win bonus and a great performance tonight!

MacKenzie Blackwood | $7000 (FD) | $7300 (DK) (GPP only) BLACKWOOD IS OUT CAUSE OF COVID!!

Man Blackwood is insanely good and he keeps stealing wins away for his team! He is insanely cheap on both sites and I expect this game to go easily under. Even if he does not win, he should get a great score as I don’t see many goals getting through him tonight. If NJ somehow wins (should be a close game), expect him to be one of the best goalie scores tonight! Blackwood out… Play Varlamov instead!

Honorable Mentions: Vasilevskiy, and Varlamov
