THE DAILY PUCK DROP – 01/13/2022 – NHL DFS MAIN SLATE

1

Hi, It’s Sam Duchesneau better known as @GronkDFS on Twitter, we have another free Thursday article on the way! It’s an 11 games slate tonight with every game being great to elite spots! It’s a very tough slate tonight but may we find the best possible stacks!

Prior to getting started, please note that I am available to take your questions in the DPA Slack Chat by opting into the Playmaker Gold Package, so subscribe, and send me your lineups and your questions so that I can put you in the best position to cash tonight!

STL1 Cash Stack: Saad – Thomas – Kyrou (3.6 goals implied total)

Fanduel: $18,000 (33% of salary) / DraftKings: $16,900 (34% of salary)

It was not easy to pick my favorite cash stack but based on the price of this stack, the matchup, and recency bias, I believe STL2 is worth it tonight against a Kraken team that simply cannot keep the puck out of the net! The Blues (3.44 GF/games and 30.1 PP%) will face the Kraken (3.71 GA/games and 77.5 PK) on a back-to-back game tonight!

STL2 is missing Tarasenko but that line has been simply too good no matter who is on their line! Thomas and Kyrou have been a deadly duo! STL2 owns a 32SCF, 12HDCF, 49CF%, and a 2.7xGF! They will face SEA2 and their weal 25SCA, 11HDCA, and a 2.94xGA. Seattle will be starting Chris Driedger and his awful 3.49GAA and .892 SV% this season which is easily one of the worse in the NHL this season for any goaltenders!

Other viable stacks: CGY1 (Gaudreau, Lindholm, and Tkachuk); CAR2 (Svechnikov, Trocheck, and Fast); NSH1 (Tolvanen, Granlund, and Duchene)

PIT1 GPP Stack: Guentzel – Crosby – Rodrigues (3 goals implied total)

Fanduel: $24,000 (44% of salary) / DraftKings: $22,700 (45% of salary)

Lots of good stacks tonight but I felt like giving you guys one under-the-radar stack for GPPs. There’s a lot of better stacks on paper tonight but in terms of ownership and how well this line has been doing, I believe this could be a GPP takedown type of stack! LA has been much better defensively this year than last season! But, they have their moments of struggling at times and PIT1 can easily manage to expose that. The Pens (3.29 GF/games and 18 PP%) will face the Kings (2.58 GA/games and 75.3 PK%).

PIT1 will face LA1 in what should be a solid matchup for them. PIT1 owns a slate best 38SCF, 17HDCF, 62CF%, and a 4.01xGF. They are fully correlated as well. They will face LA1 and their 22SCA, 8HDCA, and a 2.14xGA.

Other viable stacks: BOS1 (Marchand, Bergeron, and Smith); NYI1 (Lee, Barzal, and Bailey); TB1 (Joseph, Point, and Kucherov)

Favorite plays

Centers

Robert Thomas | $5400 (FD) | $5800 (DK)

Thomas plays around 20 mins per game which is excellent for his price. While he doesn’t shoot or score much, he always ends up doing well because he is an elite playmaker!

Vincent Trocheck | $5200 (FD) | $4800 (DK)

CAR2 isn’t as good as CAR1 but they have their moments and they have the much better line matchup tonight. Trocheck has not been able to reproduce his last season’s success but tonight’s matchup and playing alongside Svechnikov at 5v5 and on PP1 should help him do well for his price!

Honorable Mentions: Aho, Bergeron, Point, Crosby, Larkin (GTD), Scheifele, Hertl, Couture, Lindholm, Barzal, Rodrigues, Malkin, Dubois, O’Reilly, Granlund, Jarvis, Dahlen, Haula, and Perfetti

Wingers

Eeli Tolvanen | $4700 (FD) | $3800 (DK)

Tolvanen is in an elite spot and will play on the same line as Duchene and Granlund and on the same PP! I’m a Tolvanen fan and this guy can score goals left and right when he has good linemates! He is also very good on the powerplay!

Andrei Svechnikov | $6800 (FD) | $5500 (DK)

Svechnikov has not played to his potential this season but he seems to be right on track to start the 2nd half of the season! Let’s hope he continues tonight!

Honorable Mentions: Meier, Marchand, Guentzel, Connor, Kucherov, Stamkos, Gaudreau, Pastrnak, Panarin, Kane, M.Tkachuk, Duchene, Kyrou, Kreider, Buchnevich, Teraivanen, Hall, Barbashev, Killorn, Raymond, Smith, Tuch, and Johannsson

Defenseman

Roman Josi | $7500 (FD) | $8000 (DK)

Whenever Nashville is in a great spot, you need Josi. He is the core of this Nashville offense. His floor is phenomenal and he has 1 goal and 6 assists in his last 3 games!

Rasmus Andersson | $4700 (FD) | $5300 (DK)

Great powerplay spot for Andersson and the Flames tonight! He is well priced for this matchup and Andersson is due for his 1st goal of the season!

Honorable Mentions: Letang, Hedman, Fox, McAvoy, Seider, Krug, Faulk, Skjei, Grzelcyk, Sergachev, Savard, Chiarot, Murphy, and Dumoulin

Goaltenders

Tuukka Rask | $8000 (FD) | $8300 (DK)

Rask is returning to the Bruins and I am beyond hyped! The Flyers are getting a few guys back from COVID and injured reserve. The Bruins have been elite offensively and defensively since the break!

Juuse Saros | $8400 (FD) | $8700 (DK)

Saros was named the NHL’s 2nd star of the week last week. He is simply locked in and Nashville should have 0 problems demolishing Buffalo tonight!

Honorable Mentions: Vasilevskiy, Andersen, Husso, Jarry, Sorokin, and Markstrom

Recap

Finally, I am on a lot of stacks tonight but this is my list in order: STL2, CGY1, CAR1, NSH1 (Granlund line), BOS1, PIT1, TB1, CAR2, DET1, WPG1, STL1, CHI1, PIT2, NYI1, and NYR1! Good luck tonight it is a tough slate!
