Power Plays | Saturday 3.24.2018 | FanDuel NHL

93

Tonight’s NHL Main slate consist of 10 games. Four of these games feature teams that are at least a -180 favorite: Toronto, Washington, Florida, and the NY Rangers. Five of these games have an over/under of at least 6: Detroit v Toronto, Carolina v Ottawa, Tampa Bay v New Jersey, Buffalo v NY Rangers, and Chicago v NY Islanders. After a month without Auston Matthews, we can officially crack open a cold one, and find some great value today. I’ve narrowed down a strong pool of #playmakers to consider when building your FanDuel lineups tonight.

Center

Auston Matthews | Toronto Maple Leafs | $7,600

It doesn’t appear that Matthews has any rust left from his month away from playing. His stats seemed to pick up right where he left off. Last game: 15 minutes of ice time, 1 goal, 4 shots, and 18.4 FDP. This 20 year old has been one of my favorite centers to target since he came into the league, and the favorable matchup makes him even more enticing than usual tonight. Don’t limit to yourself to just one player either, when targeting Matthews, a stack of his line is also recommended. Toronto is currently a -300 favorite in a game with an over/under of 6!!! Detroit has given up 4 or more goals in nine of their last eleven games! Pour some maple syrup all over this bad boy – Matthews and co. by a million.

Wing

Anders Lee | NY Islanders | $6,500

As we dig through our pool, let’s find some players that don’t belong to a team based in Drakeville. Look no further than the Brooklyn bridge to find who out I’m talking about, Anders Lee of the New York Islanders has big plans for tonight. Lee rests at a generous cost, right in between the mid-price and top tier wings. The American (yes, I’m serious) has found the twine 5 times over his last 3 games. Look for that trend to persist as he will skate on the top line for the favored Islanders in a game with the highest over/under of the slate. As a matter of fact, I believe both teams are not even using a goalie tonight, instead opting for 6 on 6 hockey. JK! … JK! But with Forsberg and Halak between the pipes, it may feel like empty net hockey all night.

Anders Lee has been hot over his last 5 games

Defense

Victor Hedman | Tampa Bay Lightning | $6,500

Hedman is one of my favorite plays tonight if you can make room for him in your budget.  He is the 2nd most expensive defender on the slate, but his consistency is well worth it.  Tampa Bay is favored at New Jersey with a high scoring over/under of 6.  He has goals in three straight games, with an assist to go with it. With his high number of minutes on the ice, look for him to set up both Stamkos and Kucherov, the two highest salaried skaters on the slate.

Goalie

Philipp Grubauer | Washington Capitals | $8,300

I’m staying on the Grubauer train. Had him picked for his last start when he got his shutout, and I see no reason to stop now. He has a 2.29 GAA to go with his .926 save percentage. Washington is a -180 favorite for tonight’s game vs Montreal. Tonight, I’m looking to get those +12 FDP for the win, and if he can put up the back-to-back shutout, then that’ll be an even bigger bonus. His cost averages around $8,300, and doesn’t take away from your ability to spend up on the plethora of studs available tonight. Plug in McGruber, and watch the playoff hungry Caps beat up on the sorry Montreal Canadians.
