NFL Preseason DFS | 2 Game Slate | DraftKings & FanDuel

Howdy Folks! @AlexKrallDFS here to preview the first NFL Preseason Classic Slate of the weekend! We had an absolute thumping in showdown last night as the Pats destroyed the Eagles 35-0, and safe to say, I’m excited to have a few more teams to pick from tonight. Tonight’s 2 gamer features the SB runner up Chiefs against the Cardinals, and the Bengals and Washington Football Team (I’ll never get used to saying that). Per the usual format, I’ll be highlighting my favorite plays at each position to target for tonight’s contests on DraftKings and FanDuel, and will provide a CORE for playmakers to draw from listed at the end of the article. Let’s get right to it!

Chris Streveler | AZ – Played majority of the game last time out. Possesses great rushing upside with 10 attempts on the ground in the Cards last season game while quarterbacking 48 of the teams 70 offensive snaps. With Kyler Murray not likely to play much, and Colt McCoy already proven, Streveler should see the majority of the 2nd half if not more.

Ryan Fitzpatrick | WSH – If anyone wants to YOLO ball out in a preseason game its this guy. The general consensus here is that WSH starters could see about 4-5 series tonight, which could be enough time for Fitzy to put up a TD and ample passing yards to go with it if he decides to send it.

Running Backs

Jacques Patrick | CIN – Used to target him in the XFL when he was the starting RB for the TB Vipers (and played well might I add). He crushed in his last outing, getting 15 carries for 71 yards on the ground, and the 234 LB bulldozer is a top target to eat up yards tonight as he looks to ascend the Bengals depth chart.

Jarrett Patterson | WSH – A versatile RB that can both run and catch the football well. A PPR friendly option, the 2021 rookie amassed 10 rushes for 40 yards while catching 4 passes for 30 yards while more than doubling any other Washington RB’s snap share.

Eno Benjamin | AZ – Gained 50 yds on 5 carries and a TD while also racking up 84 yards in the return game last week. Versatility could prove key as a guy who still has more to prove to lock down the 3rd RB spot behind Chase Edmonds and James Conner. Jonathan Ward is the other backup RB that could see time, but he hurt his ankle on Friday which could hinder his ability to play / play at a high level. Give me all the Benjamins tonight, baby!

Chris Evans | CIN – Evans is the salt to Patrick’s pepper in the Cincy offense tonight. While Patrick plays a bruiser style of RB, Evans is more of a slasher that can make an impact in the passing game. Both squarely in play tonight despite the return of Pooka Williams who should eat some carries at the end of the game. Evans played 3 more snaps than Patrick last week.

Jerick McKinnon | KC – A player that continues to separate himself from Darwin Thompson for the Chiefs 3rd RB role. Has proven NFL caliber experience despite a couple of bad breaks in the form of injuries throughout his career. Great pass catcher that could serve us very well on DraftKings tonight if given more opportunities. Still led Chiefs RBs in snaps played last week with 15.

Darwin Thompson | KC – Will likely get more opportunities tonight as he battles it out with McKinnon for RB3. Take your pick between the two, I prefer McKinnon though Thompson is likely to have ample chances to prove himself tonight.

Wide Receivers

Jody Fortson | KC – 6-foot-6 Jody Fortson has been a camp standout per several beat writers close to the Chiefs. While listed on DK as a WR (conveniently) he’s actually been converted into a TE, leaving him less players to scrap with for a roster spot. In last week’s preseason game, Fortson caught 3 balls for 32 yards on 5 targets, which is ample activity for a preseason player.

Keesean Johnson and Rondale Moore | AZ – There will be a higher concentration of targets to go around to Cardinals receivers tonight, with Deandre Hopkins and Andy Isabella set to miss, and A.J. Green probably not likely to see many reps at his age. Johnson played 75% of the team’s snaps last week, and Rondale Moore is a first round rookie in this years draft that was been deployed in creative fashion in the first game while finishing with 5 touches for 39 scrimmage yards. Both are in play here tonight.

Daurice Fountain | KC – The former Colts draft pick secured 4 receptions for 38 yards while playing more snaps than any other Chiefs WR last week. Should see ample playing time in the 2H as a true bubble candidate.

Trenton Irwin | CIN – Had a team high 3 catches for 35 yards on 5 targets in Week 1 of the preseason. Irwin looks to secure the backup slot receiver job from Tyler Boyd, while proving to be a dynamic asset returning some kicks on special teams as well.

Dyami Brown | WSH – The 2021 3rd round rookie draft pick out of North Carolina led the team in targets last week (4) despite snap share being split pretty evenly among receivers. Interesting play considering his high draft pick pedigree.

Antoine Wesley | AZ – I didn’t include Wesley with the two above as I think he is more of a dark horse. He missed last week and is surely to go under the radar tonight for that reason. Wesley actually played college ball under former Texas Tech and now current Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury. I think Kliff will let his boy eat tonight as he has described him as “fearless” while adding that “he’s making plays when he has the opportunity to do so.” It doesn’t hurt that Wesley towers above the average CB standing at 6-foot-4.

Tight Ends

John Bates | WSH – With starters unlikely to play much and Temarrick Hemingway and Sammis Reyes both out, all thats left are 2021 4th round pick John Bates and Caleb Wilson who was claimed off the Eagles practice squad four days ago. If you want opportunity, Bates is the lock of the night as far as reps are concerned at the TE position.

Noah Gray | KC – Bobbled a pass that led to an INT last week, but by all accounts the rookie has great hands and should see more opportunities in the passing game moving forward with only two targets last week.

Defense/Special Teams

Washington Football Team – A dominant defense that will be playing against the likes of Brandon Allen and Kyle Shurmur could spell a recipe for disaster for the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals – Will get to play against a three stooges QB situation with Taylor Heinicke, Kyle Allen and Steven Montez all on the docket. Having said that I prefer Washington overall.
