- Overall Record: 650-608-21
- Season Record: 216-221-5
Gonzaga -4.5 vs Baylor
- Tonight’s championship game features the best two teams in the country. This game was scheduled to be played in the regular season back in December, but issues with the pandemic caused Gonzaga to withdraw. Now they meet Baylor for all the marbles, with a perfect record still intact. The hard fought win against UCLA likely fuels the Zags here. I do not see them losing tonight’s game after that barn burner they endured, especially now that they can play a full forty minutes at the pace they are comfortable. Baylor had the less challenging path, but I am more confident betting Gonzaga after seeing them battle some adversity
- Balance wins championships. This team ranked first in offensive efficiency all season long, but now has a top ten defense to match. Baylor can keep up on the offensive end, but I do not think they can hold the Zags under their usual 60 percent clip shooting. Their tempo melts opponents and there are just simply too many weapons to contain. This is likely the most battle tested the Zags have ever been in the big dance. The last team to finish the season undefeated were the 1976 Hoosiers, but this squad has as good a chance as any team since then. They are filthy
- Gonzaga will certainly benefit from their 64 percent shooting inside the paint here. With Baylor they will have to deal with a few blocked shots and turnovers, but I expect we see them score well overall. Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and Flo Thamba will struggle to contain Drew Timme in this spot. With the hot shooting of Joel Ayayi and Jalen Suggs to boot, I doubt the Zags suffer very many empty possessions thus evening. They should cruise to just shy of 90 points and I do not see Baylor getting much more than 80 if they are lucky. This spread is honestly lower than it should be, as the Zags would likely be eight-point favorites if not for the close contest they played Saturday
I am confident in every pick that I provide and play them myself. College basketball is unpredictable and that’s why we love it, so always bet smart!
