  • Overall Record: 627-592-21
  • Season Record: 193-205-5

Florida PK vs Virginia Tech

  • I am trying to be responsible and not bet every game of this tournament, but have to have action on the first one. Florida is a very balanced squad who found success navigating a brutal SEC schedule. Colin Castleton will be difficult for the Hokies to defend and Tre Mann has been as hot as any player in the country
  • The spread is not a huge factor for this one but Virginia Tech is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Defense will be a huge advantage for the Gators here. When a seven seed has a top 40 defensive efficiency rating, they are 22-9 straight up going against a ten in the first round

Arkansas -8.5 vs Colgate

  • I think Arkansas has the potential to go very far in this tournament. They may not rank highly on sites like KenPom and Torvik, but they put together an impressive 14-5 Southeastern Conference record this season. As well as Colgate can shoot the three, I do not see them keeping pace with the Razorbacks
  • Teams hailing from the Patriot League have found success in the NCAA Tournament in the past. This Colgate squad played just three opponents all regular season though, and two additional foes during their conference tourney. Against a real Quad I opponent like Arkansas, I see a lot of what they do being neutralized

Utah State +4.5 vs Texas Tech

  • This should be one of the best games in the early window. Utah State is an under-the-radar team with excellent size and a smothering defense. They can go as far as Neemias Queta will take them in this tournament and I love the matchup he enjoys in this game against the undersized frontcourt of the Red Raiders
  • Texas Tech was just 3-8 this season against Top 25 opponents. They also collapsed in the conference tournament against the Texas Longhorns after leading for a majority of that game. This season the Red Raiders were just 10-17 against the spread and while they may win this game, I am doubtful that they can cover

Oral Roberts vs Ohio State, Over 157

  • The Buckeyes were 18-12 to the over this season while Oral Roberts was an even more impressive 16-7. Both squads average just shy of 80 points per game and I am expecting a high scoring matchup here in the first round. Oral Roberts shoots 39 percent from beyond the arc, the fifth best rate of all 68 tournament teams
  • As good as the Oral Roberts offense is, their defense is certainly suspect. They allowed an average of 85 points per game against Quadrant I opponents this season. As long as they get some shots to fall we should see this over cash. Kyle Young is questionable for this game, a glue guy for Ohio State far more valuable on the defensive end

Hartford vs Baylor, Under 140.5

  • The Big Ten tournament took place on this south court of Lucas Oil Stadium. The rims seem tight and I think both teams struggle to make outside shots here today. Hartford cashed the under in 15 of 23 games this season, struggling on offense and allowing just 63 points per game. Albeit that came against rather weak competition
  • During their early season play outside of the Big 12, Baylor allowed just 61 points per game to their competition. This team should be engaged in their first round matchup and ready to shut down the sixteen seed Hawks. I see them holding Hartford well under 60 points today. Lets just hope they do not run up the score themselves

North Carolina -1.5 vs Wisconsin

  • I almost kept this play off my card as this 8-9 tilt took the longest for me to decide on. However, Roy Williams has never lost a first-round matchup in the tournament over 29 (!) total appearances. Their frontcourt should swallow up the Badgers in this matchup, giving Micah Potter and Tyler Wahl a lot of problems
  • As you know by now the Big Ten is stacked, but Wisconsin finished the season going on an extended 5-9 run. They were just 6-11 against Quadrant I opponents too, making it extremely difficult to trust them versus these Tarheels. The UNC guard play will decide this game but I trust them despite a lack of experience

Rutgers vs Clemson, Under 125.5

  • The first team to 50 points could very well win this game. Both these squads rank inside the top 20 in terms of defensive efficiency. Of course that is impressive regardless but Rutgers doing that against Big Ten competition really tells you all you need to know about this groups effort on that side of the ball
  • Rutgers can put on decent offensive performances, but not when playing away from the RAC. They stayed under the total in eight of twelve games outside of Piscataway this season. This game takes place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, a court that has seen the Pacers cash unders for the past two decades

Winthrop vs Villanova, Over 143

  • Everybody’s darling Winthrop plays the last game of the slate today. You may be scratching them in as your 12-5 upset but I still like Nova here even without Collin Gillespie. Both teams are offensive juggernauts though. The Wildcats have efficient shooting, while Winthrop’s pace allows them to average 80 points per contest
  • This number feels too low. I feel like money will be pouring in on this high as bettors rip up tickets and try to finish their night strong. The earlier you get on this total the better. Winthrop plays as many as eleven guys and I think they utilize that depth here today against a much thinner rotation, really running up tempo

I am confident in every pick that I provide and play them myself. College basketball is unpredictable and that’s why we love it, so always bet smart!
